The DEX Volume Leaderboard: PancakeSwap Is Quietly Surging Back as the Rest of the Market Cools
— By Tony Rabbit in Markets

The decentralized-exchange market is cooling and reshuffling at once. We read the on-chain data: total DEX volume is around $5 billion a day, down about 30% in a day but with capital rotating hard toward a few winners. Solana's PumpSwap still leads at ~$642M, but the comeback story is PancakeSwap, whose two AMMs are up about 91% and 63% on the week, joined by Aerodrome (+84%), while July favorite Native Swap fell about 37%. Volume is the truest scoreboard in on-chain trading, and right now it points to a rotation, not a rout.
The market for decentralized exchanges is cooling and reshuffling at the same time, and the on-chain volume board tells the story better than any headline. Total DEX volume sat around $5 billion in the latest 24 hours, up about 10% on the week but down roughly 30% in a single day, a sharp near-term slowdown. Yet underneath that cooldown, capital is not leaving evenly. It is rotating hard toward a handful of venues, and the loudest comeback belongs to PancakeSwap. We pulled the numbers ourselves from DefiLlama.

PumpSwap still rules, but the momentum is elsewhere
At the very top, little has changed: PumpSwap, the DEX at the center of Solana's memecoin machine, is still the single busiest venue at roughly $642 million a day, up 34% on the week. But the story of the week is not the leader; it is who is climbing fastest behind it. PancakeSwap's two engines are both accelerating: its main V3 AMM is up about 91% to $427 million a day, and its newer Infinity product is up about 63% to $128 million. Add them together and PancakeSwap is quietly moving well over half a billion dollars a day, closing the gap on the top spot.
It is not alone. Aerodrome, the liquidity hub on Base, is up about 84% to $378 million. Meanwhile the two Uniswap deployments, still huge at a combined $917 million, grew a comparatively sleepy 13%. In a week when overall volume barely moved, a 90% jump is not the tide lifting all boats; it is traders actively choosing a venue.
Where the money is draining from
The mirror image is just as telling. Native Swap, which had been one of the loudest volume stories of July, fell about 37% on the week to $528 million, the sharpest decline among the majors. That is the pattern of a venue whose hype spike is normalizing while attention moves on. The one-day 30% drop in total volume says the whole market took a breather; the individual lines say that breather is being used to rotate, not to retreat.
What it means
Volume is the truest scoreboard in decentralized trading, because it is where fees, liquidity and attention actually land, and right now it is pointing at a rotation rather than a rout. PumpSwap keeps the crown, but PancakeSwap and Aerodrome are the ones adding traders fastest, and last month's winners are giving some back. For anyone watching the DEX landscape, the takeaway is simple: do not just read the top line, read the direction of each line, because that is where the next leader is forming.
Data note. All volume figures and 7-day changes were read by DEXTools News from DefiLlama on August 1, 2026 (total DEX 24h volume about $5.0B, down ~30% in a day and up ~10% on the week; PumpSwap ~$642M/+34%, PancakeSwap V3 ~$427M/+91%, PancakeSwap Infinity ~$128M/+63%, Aerodrome ~$378M/+84%, Native Swap ~$528M/-37%, Uniswap V3 ~$483M and V4 ~$434M, each +13%). Figures are approximate and move continuously. This is information, not financial advice.

Frequently asked questions
Which DEX has the most volume right now?
On August 1, 2026, Solana's PumpSwap led all decentralized exchanges with about $642 million in 24-hour volume, up roughly 34% over the week, according to DefiLlama data read by DEXTools News. It was followed by Native Swap (~$528M), Uniswap V3 (~$483M) and Uniswap V4 (~$434M).
Is PancakeSwap volume growing?
Yes, sharply. PancakeSwap's main AMM (V3) did about $427 million in 24-hour volume, up roughly 91% over the week, and its newer Infinity product added about $128 million, up around 63%. Combined, PancakeSwap is doing well over half a billion dollars a day and is one of the fastest-growing venues on the leaderboard, alongside Aerodrome (about $378M, up 84%).
Is overall DEX volume rising or falling?
Both, depending on the timeframe. Total DEX volume was around $5 billion in the latest 24 hours, up about 10% week over week but down roughly 30% in a single day, a sharp near-term cooldown. Inside that cooling market, capital is clearly rotating toward a few surging venues (PancakeSwap, Aerodrome) and away from others.
What is a DEX and why does volume matter?
A decentralized exchange (DEX) lets people trade tokens directly on-chain through smart contracts, without a central intermediary holding funds. Trading volume is the clearest measure of where activity and liquidity are concentrating: a venue gaining volume is winning traders and fees, while a venue losing it is fading, so the leaderboard is a live map of where the on-chain market is moving.
